Birding with Neighbors

Tri-Colored Heron
Great Egret
Northern Shoveler
Our wonderful neighbors and friends, Tom and Carol Sykes are serious birders and lead birding tours out of their home state of Wisconsin to Costa Rica and other exotic places.  They were very kind to take us to Estero Llano State Park here in the Rio Grande Valley, which is a World Birding Center.  We saw so many beautiful birds along with a few crocodiles too!

Our Winter Home

After three weeks on the road we were very excited to reach our winter home, Bentsen Palm Village RV Resort in Mission, Texas. There were only 10 other rigs here when we arrived so we met people quickly and made new friends while waiting for old friends to arrive.  We have a great site with palm trees, Esperanza bushes and a butterfly bush which attracts so many beautiful butterflies in October and November.  Our view out the back window is a large pasture with Brahma Bulls roaming and feeding. Our dogs, Mickey and Jerry, who by the way are great travelers enjoy watching the bulls as long as they keep their distance.  The whole month of November was warm enough that we were in the pool everyday.

Our New Adventure

After many attempts to start a blog of our new life as full-time RVers, I have finally found time to sit down and get to it.  We left home (Rochester, NY) in October with our Sydney Outback 5th wheel in tow, destination Mission, Texas.  We spent two weeks on the road with overnight stays in Kentucky and Nashville.  From there we traveled to Tunica, Mississippi where we spent 10 days at Harrah's Mid South RV Resort.  We really loved this campground and the fact that there were casinos in the middle of cotton fields.
