Enjoying Nature

Vermillion Flycatcher on our Back Fence
The Queen butterfly populates our patio bush.
One our favorite activities while here in Texas is riding our bikes here in the resort and in the state park next door.  We love looking for the different species of birds here in the south along with the wide range of beautiful butterflies.  There used to be Javelinas in the park but last year the river flooded over and pushed them further out of the park.  We are still hoping to catch a glimpse of the coyotes, bobcats and armadillos that frequent the resort and surrounding areas.  Hope if we do we have our cameras handy!

New Year's Eve Celebration

Ray at the Palapa

Enjoying Some Crazy Games

A Mexican Cowboy Across the River
New Year's Eve was a great day.  We attended a barbecue at the park palapa which is located along the Rio Grande River. We had a fun time watching some of our friends play crazy lawn games and others trying to hit a golf ball across the river into Mexico.  We enjoyed great food and drinks while watching Border Patrol fly over us protecting the border along the river.  We joined the others in the resort at the New Year's Eve dance in the evening and actually stayed awake until midnight.

A Texas Christmas

Christmas Dinner with Family and Friends

Lori & Greg on Christmas Day
We had a wonderful Christmas in Texas this year.  Our daughter Lori and son-in-law Greg came to visit for four days.  Unfortunately the warm weather they were expecting was not to be. It rained every day except Christmas Day when the sun decided to shine. They were very impressed with our winter home and enjoyed many festivities in the park. We went to mass Christmas Eve at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church which was followed by a dessert party at the park.  Christmas day we attended dinner at the clubhouse at then took a walk through the Bentsen Palm State Park next door.  It was so nice to be together and have family with us.  We only wish our son, Raymond could have been here too.
